Trouble with Blogs
11.01.2004
Marketers have been trying to find ways to use blogs (personal journals that are frequently updated and intended for general public consumption) to create a viral marketing buzz for their products. Writing and posting blogs that supposedly come from consumers is a tactic that can backfire. Mazda is accused of setting up a blog that is supposedly from a fan of their new M3. The blog was removed after receiving criticism for being fake. Other marketing techniques, such as e-mail, may be more effective in creating a buzz.
