Search Engines Have a Unique Voice
09.19.2005

The idea that all search engines are the same was proven unfounded according to a study conducted by Dogpile and the researchers from the University of Pittsburgh and Penn State. When analyzing organic/natural first page search results across primary engines such as Google, Ask Jeeves, MSN and Yahoo, they found:
-85% of total results were UNIQUE to ONE engine
-11% of total results were shared by any two engines
-3% of total results were shared by any three engines
-1% of total results were shared by all four engines
